Red Magic has consistently been one of the few manufacturers in the current smartphone market dedicated to gaming phones. Their insistence on active cooling design is considered one of the optimal solutions for gaming phones. At the end of last year, they introduced the powerful Red Magic 9 Pro series. With its flat body, hole-free screen, robust third-generation Snapdragon 8, and the latest active cooling system, it became the top choice for gaming phones.

After more than six months, Red Magic has now released the Red Magic 9S Pro. While the design continues to follow the flat style and the color schemes and style are similar to the Red Magic 9 Pro, there are several upgrades. These include more extreme performance, updated cooling, and the addition of the Red Magic Cube AI model, making the Red Magic 9S Pro a true Super upgrade. The experience is expected to be even more extreme, so let’s explore it together.

Small Changes in Appearance with New ID Color Options

In terms of appearance, the Red Magic 9S Pro’s changes are relatively minor. It still follows the design of the Red Magic 9 series but with some tweaks. The version we received is the Deuterium Blade Transparent Edition, which maintains the Red Magic 9 Pro’s style with embossed gold text. However, the "9" has been replaced with a dot-matrix "9S" and some element positions have been adjusted. The "Deuterium" logo is now at the bottom right, while the Red Magic logo is at the bottom left.

The Red Magic 9S Pro continues with its flat body and integrated glass back. It has air intake and exhaust ports on both sides, providing strong active cooling. This time, the Red Magic 9S Pro features a new ID design, including a more understated "Night Knight" color scheme and a white version called Deuterium Transparent Silver Wing, which is more subtle and likely to appeal to a broader audience.

On the front, the Red Magic 9S Pro still uses the fifth-generation under-display full-screen, BOE Q9+ luminous material, with a peak global brightness of 1000 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits. The under-display camera design ensures a complete, hole-free screen, enhancing focus and gaming experience. Data-wise, it remains consistent with the previous generation Red Magic 9 Pro, including DC dimming, 120Hz high refresh rate, and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

Stable Performance in “Honkai: Star Rail” and Immersive Experience in “Nirvana Mobile”

The core of the Red Magic 9S Pro is its gaming performance. It features Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon 8 Leading Edition mobile platform. The name indicates it’s still the third-generation Snapdragon 8 platform, but this time it’s overclocked with a CPU core boosted to 3.4GHz and a GPU enhanced to 1GHz, delivering even more extreme performance.

It supports a maximum combination of 24GB+1TB, although the version we have is 12GB+512GB. Our tests are based on this version, so let's first look at the actual gaming performance.

For such a powerful phone, running a game like “Honor of Kings” isn’t enough. We directly tested it with high-intensity games like “Honkai: Star Rail,” running at the highest graphics settings and 60fps mode for half an hour. In this game, the Red Magic 9S Pro maintains a very stable frame rate, averaging 60 frames per second with a smoothness of 100%. With active cooling, the maximum temperature only reaches 40.6°C.

This already demonstrates the impressive performance capabilities of the Red Magic 9S Pro, but its performance is primarily due to its cooling ability. It features the latest ICE 13.5 Magic Cold cooling system with a 10-layer structure. In addition to the fan’s active cooling, it uses frost gel to enhance thermal conductivity, and the VC cooling area is up to 10182mm². Combined with upgraded materials and active cooling fans, it ensures a stable 60fps in "Honkai: Star Rail."

Enhanced Gaming and Daily Experience with AI Model Integration

As smartphones enter the AI model era, many products now feature AI capabilities. However, the Red Magic 9S Pro is among the first gaming phones to integrate AI models. The collision of AI models and gaming phones goes beyond just conversational abilities; it aims to enhance the gaming experience.

The Magic AI companion has been upgraded to provide more enjoyable gaming experiences. It offers playful banter during loading times, reminds you to reload, or alerts you to buff refreshes on MOBA game maps. Additionally, with AI support, there’s a new AI trigger feature that can set custom trigger conditions based on your actions. The model will automatically recognize scenarios and trigger actions like automatic reloading, making gameplay smoother.

A new audio-visual probe function has also been added, mainly for "Peace Elite," automatically identifying sound markers on the mini-map and indicating direction on the screen. It can also rotate with the user’s view. Existing features like key mapping, color inversion in grass, amplified footsteps, and Magic AI voice packs are still present, enhancing the gaming experience.

AI capabilities extend beyond gaming. The Red Magic AIGC functionality is comprehensive, including excellent AI screen recognition that quickly identifies images and text, offering options for content summarization, expansion, and refinement. This makes it a valuable tool for work.

Additionally, the AI erasure function is available for removing unwanted elements in photos. This function is very convenient and popular with consumers.

Overall, the Red Magic 9S Pro is an upgraded version of the Red Magic 9 Pro series, with a focus on extreme gaming performance. The overclocked Snapdragon 8 Leading Edition and the powerful ICE 13.5 cooling system ensure that even the most demanding games run smoothly. The integration of AI models enhances both gaming enjoyment and everyday convenience, making the Red Magic 9S Pro an exceptional choice for mobile gaming enthusiasts.
